Let's dish...

I come from a long line of women who find dishes to be their Achilles heel.
I am in that line.
My everyday ware is Wedgewood Queensware.  It's ivory with an embellished edge of grapes and leaves.  It's subtle and I love the all white look of it when paired with silver flatware, gold accents, or any other colours.

Some of you may not know this, but I have been married three times.  What do you get when you get married?  China.  And lots of it.  My first set of china was lovely, navy blue with a gold stripe around it, but it was really not my style.  Second wedding I was sensible and just added to what I already had, but by the third wedding I was starting to become a bit superstitious and that china had to go!  So I searched eBay until I found what I was looking for- plain, but with some pattern, old, chippy- perfect.

I'm happy to report that Travis and I have been married for 14 years and this china has served us well.

My everyday ware is Emma Bridgewater Black Toast.  Love, love, love typography, so these pieces just play to my love of words.

My mom actually met Lord Wedgewood and had him sign a small piece for me.  When I was younger I was not that into china or dishes even, but now that I am getting older it seems that the bug has bitten me.  I find myself looking at dishes- especially in antique stores.   My mother is another story- she has FIVE sets of china.  That is not including her everyday ware.  Don't even get me started on how much flatware she owns.  She didn't get bit by the bug- she swallowed it whole.

  5. I'm embarrassed to admit how many dishes I own! Okay, no I'm not. I have 3 sets of china, 2 sets of everyday, and then there's the Christmas dishes....Let's just say your mom and I could be the best of friends.. !!
