Howdy...

Hi, I'm Tricia, and I am super excited to have you visit my little blog!  Little Cottage on the Pond is a place for me to share our DIY adventures, decorating ideas, kid stories, painted pieces and cooking escapades.

Facts about Tricia...

I'm originally from Puerto Rico.  My parents are from New York and New Jersey.  We live in Texas.  I went to a fancy liberal arts college and have degrees in English and Psychology.  I've been a Montessori teacher and a public school teacher.  Now I am a DIYer for Hometalk.  My hobbies are working out, gardening, calligraphy and Zumba.

I am married to Travis, the love of my life and my partner in crime.  We met way back when I was working nights as a shot girl in a bar.  It was love at first sight, well more like love at first dead duck. But that's a whole other story... I am a naturally hyper and high strung person, and Travis is the Prozac to my chicken little personality.  He is also the MacGyver of DIY and can build almost anything.   We go together like peanut butter and jelly.

We have four children, one who has a little extra something in the chromosome department.   They are all creative and independent- two qualities I love in a person.  Our two middle kids are grown and out on their own, and I'm a homeschool mom to our youngest son who started college last year...

Although I have traveled all over the world, Texas will always be home to me.  I love that you can travel from one end to the other and see everything from mountains, deserts, beaches and plains.  We live on the Texas coast and we have just moved into our newly remodeled tiny tudor...

We are huge fans of the AMC show The Walking Dead.  We host Dead & Dinner here on Sunday nights.  It's our family thing.  Who knew that zombies bring family and friends together?

Why I blog...

I began blogging years ago as a way to just vent about kids, home, and life in general.  I really didn't think anyone would be interested in reading about Down Syndrome, the life of a teacher, moving, painting, building random stuff, more painting, or the things I fed my family.  I also didn't realize at the time that there were a slew of incredibly talented and creative bloggers out there who were sharing their DIY adventures and life stories as well.  Blogging has become a treasure of people who inspire and encourage me in so many ways.  It's hard to make time to visit all the blogs I love, so I do truly appreciate that you are taking the time out of your busy day to visit me :)
