Let's dish...

I come from a long line of women who find dishes to be their Achilles heel.
I am in that line.
My everyday ware is Wedgewood Queensware.  It's ivory with an embellished edge of grapes and leaves.  It's subtle and I love the all white look of it when paired with silver flatware, gold accents, or any other colours.

Some of you may not know this, but I have been married three times.  What do you get when you get married?  China.  And lots of it.  My first set of china was lovely, navy blue with a gold stripe around it, but it was really not my style.  Second wedding I was sensible and just added to what I already had, but by the third wedding I was starting to become a bit superstitious and that china had to go!  So I searched eBay until I found what I was looking for- plain, but with some pattern, old, chippy- perfect.

I'm happy to report that Travis and I have been married for 14 years and this china has served us well.

My everyday ware is Emma Bridgewater Black Toast.  Love, love, love typography, so these pieces just play to my love of words.

My mom actually met Lord Wedgewood and had him sign a small piece for me.  When I was younger I was not that into china or dishes even, but now that I am getting older it seems that the bug has bitten me.  I find myself looking at dishes- especially in antique stores.   My mother is another story- she has FIVE sets of china.  That is not including her everyday ware.  Don't even get me started on how much flatware she owns.  She didn't get bit by the bug- she swallowed it whole.

Oh Emma...

I am in a love affair with Emma Bridgewater pottery.  I own more than I'd like to admit some pieces and am smitten with the simplicity of style and versatility it offers in decorating a table.   They are a British company selling a British product, that is hand made and hand decorated in their factory in Stoke-on-Trent.

My favourite style is Black Toast , and since my home is mostly neutrals the black and cream fits my kitchen to a "t".  There are so many other styles to choose from including polka dots and other fun & festive designs.

The Butter and Cheese platters are from Joanne Hudson, and while they are not Emma Bridgewater, they are designed to compliment the Black Toast line.  I have since bought the Pure Butter tray- and I love it.

So let's dish, what pottery pieces do you own that are special to you?

Where I shop on-line...

I am a huge fan of on-line shopping.  Being one who deals with panic attacks in crowded places, on-line shopping is perfect!  I also love the ease of comparing products and pricing ;)

I decided to purchase a new door lock set for our front and back doors from this site recommended by John and Sherry of Young House Love:

Weslock Door Hardware - Molten Bronze Aspen - Single Deadbolt Handleset with Wexford Knob in Black

 - ( WES-88873 )

I will be doing a post on installing it as soon as the UPS man delivers it!

I am also a huge fan of rugs...sisal is a fav.  Have you seen this site?  You can order any rug, at any size- bound & delivered for less than other rugs.

Sisal Rugs Direct

Dash & Albert rugs are always lovely too...

Some of y'all have asked about my Emma Bridgewater platters, which are not EB, but Joanne Hudson's creation to go along with the EB pieces.

You can find those here...

So that is it for this week's edition of Places I shop...I am not paid by any of these folks- these are products I use and love!
