You know your a fur-mommy when...

I've been dealing with our new little girl and what is known as "reverse sneezing".  Which to my mind leads to imploding and snot spray.  There is nothing cute about snot spray.  Even when it comes from this sweet little face...

We have seen the vet and he prescribed antihistamines for her "allergies".  Ironic, since I too have allergies- to dog fur.  (I have dogs anyway- my belief is that a doggy makes the cottage, so allergies be damned)

Then last night this guy decided to wake me up by making that tell-tale retching noise...

And then promptly puked all over his new beautiful bed.  You know you are a fur-mommy when you are up at 3 a.m googling "how to remove dog vomit from burlap".    Good times.

Everyone is fine now that the sun is up.  Funny how one's getting sick and lack of sunlight seem to coincide...

Travis is working all week, but the library project is a green-light "GO!" as of Friday :)   A few other things are brewing here at the cottage as well as some major changes that I will be talking about soon...

Until then- have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. Oh boy I remember those times. Our two dogs both passed away a couple of summers ago. They were old old old. We loved them and spent many a night correcting the problems. :)

Our oldest son had allergies and asthma but we kept the pets any way.

  2. I don't know how many pet owners ran into my clinic in a panic, only for me to tell them their dog had a common condition, reverse sneezing. There's not a lot that can help with it, but the good news is it's not harmful (just sounds awful). My dog (a rescue Lhasa) gets it when pollen is rampant :)

Can't wait to see your projects in the works!

  4. What cute puppy dogs you have! And your little chihuahua looks like a dear one my daughter had some years ago... Speaking of reverse sneezing... if it is indeed reverse sneezing that you new little girl is doing, there is no reason for her to take antihistamines. Reverse sneezing is natural and common in many breeds, especially small ones. You might like to look at this YouTube video for an explanation by a vet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puFXxq2Z7Bs Removing dog vomit from burlap... that one I dont know too much about. Glad you found a solution!

    1. Thank you for the info! The vet seemed to think that allergens may have set her off. She is actually a tri coloured Papillion/Dachshund mix. A Papshund.......or a Doxillion ;)

  5. My dog does those reverse sneezes too, so I know that "sound"!! And yes, sometimes it leads to something coming out. Yuck! I'm like you though and couldn't imagine not having a dog in the house. It would feel so cold and empty without their sweet little paws tapping across the floor. Your dog is so cute!! Hope you can get her bed cleaned up.
