Thankfully in a marriage most couples are paired well with one being more dominant in an area than the other so that the couple as a whole works well together. Travis and I are perfectly paired in the gardening department. I cannot grow anything. Seriously, my thumb is the black widow of green thumbs. Travis on the other hand is a plant whisperer. Because of him we actually have plants.
Travis has always had great luck in growing hydrangeas. He keeps them in pots and feeds them coffee grounds. I'm also pretty sure he sings to them, but he would never admit that to me!
What plants do you grow that are your favourites? I'm always curious to hear what plants are popular in other parts of the country!

And finally, the plants that I am responsible for, preserved boxwoods. Yes, they are "fake" ish- they still require misting once a month to stay fresh. I have a lot of these around the house, so a lot of misting goes on. I pride myself in being able to keep these plants green!

I'll wander our yard and take photos this weekend. Not much does well in our alkali soil.

We do get some beautiful mallard ducks and hens. Also spoon bills...in pink! They look like flamingos :)
DeleteWe're only partly successful growing plants. I like "plant and forget" ones. Lilac bushes are very big in Rochester and we have several around the house. Smell great in the spring and only require the occasional trimming. We have a wonderful Japanese maple tree in the corner of our landscaping that is doing quite well. And we also like to plant bulbs, especially tulips. Again, no maintenance. As for indoors, next to nothing. Because our green thumbs are only marginally better than yours.
ReplyDeleteIm not even remotely close to having a green thumb. In fact, I'm surprised I can even keep my one and only spider plant going that sits on my rock boot tray. Yours look great! Your view must be wonderful :)

ReplyDeleteYep, South Texas- actually on the coast :) Most of our plants are poisonous- have to watch out for kids & pups!

ReplyDeleteHi & Welcome! We live in Texas, so the plants tend to be tropical ones that grow no matter what- the inside ones are preserved boxwoods- I have a very black thumb when it comes to plants indoors :)
