Something's gotta give...

I started out my 16 hour day yesterday with a 6:30 am parent conference at the high school for Sara. It was at hour 13 while lesson planning with one of my very favourite teachers from another campus that it hit me.

Something's gotta give.

I'm not super woman. I cannot do it all and keep things at the standard I want them. Do I let the house go to hell in a handbasket? Um, no- not an option. The kids? I'm all for independence, but really they are still far too young to set free. Work? Nope- love what I do. Graduate school? There it is. The all day Saturday class, four text books with multiple chapters/questions/home study/additional tutoring/home visit/research paper. Ding, ding, ding. That's it.

I e-mailed the prof this morning at 4:00 am. I explained my situation. Graduate school just isn't for me, not now or maybe even ever. It's the one thing that is tipping my stress level into impossible to manage. I don't feel like a quitter for doing this. I feel as if I just pushed away from the table after admitting that I took more than I could possibly eat. I love my family, and this was interferring with having any opportunity to spend quality time with them.

If that is what I am quitting for, then I am ok with being a quitter.

Spinning...

Seriously, between teaching, my own kids, husband, Grad school and house issues. I'm spinning.

Throw in fixing uber healthy breakfasts for my punks...frozen mini-pancake wrapped sausages...making sure my unused kitchen cabinets and drawers stay organized (I'm totally OCD like that) and filling up Jack's treat station- well, I'm tired.

Sorry for the serious lack of posting...I'll be back over the weekend : )

Grad School...

I am taking a graduate class this semester at UHCL. It meets every other Saturday from 9-3, which is a HUGE chunk of my weekend. I am committed to finish this class that will wrap up on December 5th. The debate for me has been between enrolling in their Reading Specialist degree and going the long (and VERY expensive) way, or enrolling in one of the on-line programs ($5,000 compared to $25,000) which is only an 18 month, but very fast paced program.

What do y'all think? Which way should I go?? The long way will take me just over 3 years to complete. Throw in the whole discussion about which degree would carry more weight, or would it even matter. I don't know.

Help!

An end to summer as I know it...

My class at the University began last Monday- I am swamped. Thank goodness I read the text before the class started. I have a major presentation to do tomorrow and a huge project to complete over the weekend. Two weeks of this, then only one week off before my PD begins. Posting may be light. Hope y'all are enjoying your mid-July summer break : )
