Making a lamp from balusters...

I love anything that is architectural remnant/chippy/vintage/chippy....did I mention chippy?   Because I do love me some chippy vintage ;)

So I started with this baluster piece that I purchased at the Urban Market a while back...

We used the parts from an old lamp so that we could use the metal extender to make the shade sit up a bit taller from the baluster piece...

Then Travis drilled a hole in the top of the baluster...

and added the lamp parts to it (technical I know, so if you need more of an explanation I would go here or here)

The end result was this...

Let there be chippy vintage light!

    1. Kim- It is all about finding the chunky pieces. I saw a few at Urban Market, but they were so expensive! I snatched up the white one at $21 (not too bad) and the green one was $65, which I still felt was reasonable given the size of it.

  14. This is a brilliant idea! I have a couple of these, but they are just a teeny bit less substantial than this one. I might have to give it a whirl, though, to put in my studio!! Thanks so much for sharing your lovely lamp!! And for linking it up to Blissful Whites Wednesday!

Hope you're having a wonderful week!
