We have been busy this summer with various projects around the cottage. Some of my neighbors have seen our kitchen cabinet painting and really loved it, but all of them seem a bit shocked at our painting brand new cabinets in a brand new built house.
I have to admit I felt a bit apprehensive about painting them as well. I kept thinking, "Well, they are new..." but in the end I knew that each time I walked into that kitchen it just didn't feel like us. It felt like the model home, so out came the brush and chalk paint...
Whether your home is old, new, or somewhat newish- it doesn't matter. What's important is putting your stamp and style on it. Making it your own and feeling comfortable in a space that reflects your style and way of life. For us that means imperfect finishes and decor that might requrie a tetanus shot if you cut yourself on it ; o )
So my point in all of this is don't worry about what you are "supposed" to do regarding your home. Just get in there and do what feels like you. You'll be happy every time you open your front door...
well said!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big believer in "my house, my rules". It's your place, do what makes you happy. If others don't like it, they don't have to visit, right?
ReplyDeleteYou did great work. Your house looks great, as always.
Saying that, are you happy? Or are there more things catching your eye?
ReplyDeleteThank you Dj!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vince : o )
