The waiting game...

I am not a fan of summer.

I know that for most people summer is their favourite time of year and saying that it sucks is a sacrilegious statement, but summer has always left me a bit blue.  I think I have reverse seasonal affect disorder, because winter time I am a happy, bouncing, productive gal.  Summer just drains me.  Too much sun, high temps and the smell of sunblock makes me nauseous.   I know, I'm weird.

Throw in a full on home renovation and all the frustrations, setbacks and unexpected problems- and you have a recipe for the sads.  Also, I am not a fan of sitting and waiting.  I am waiting on the new windows, flooring, and our kitchen cabinets.  Every day I make my list of calls only to be told, "nope, not in yet".  My parents have been so sweet to let us stay with them, but I am so ready to be back in our own place.

We did get quite a bit done over the past two weeks, and even had some great family days as well.

Tile went in...

shutters went up...

4th of July- decorating with flags and DeWalt tools...

wood sample next to the bathroom tile...

vanity light went up...

range hood from Tuesdays With Dorie came in the mail...

Now we are just sitting and waiting for everything to come in.  Hopefully the new front windows will be installed this week...

  1. I'm not a big fan of summer either, and I can only imagine that it is that much worse where you live. I really appreciate following your journey because I am both a personal finance blogger and a lifestyle blogger and this move of yours really encapsulates both. Very inspirational! Stay cool.

    1. Glad to see I'm not alone, and yes- the temps here are ridiculously hot! I love that you blog about personal finance. We made this move to cut our living expenses in half in order to travel more. Our townhouse sits in a small town where most everything we need is within walking distance. This is going to change our lifestyle dramatically. Sara and I need to exercise more- so this is perfect for us. Thank you for reading, and I appreciate your following!

  2. Summer is definitely not my favorite either. I am an Autumn girl. That is my happiest time of year. Sweating is just gross. Lol.

  3. It's nice to know some like minded blog friends! Summer is my least favorite season and I too have way more energy in the late fall and winter months.
It looks like things are going to be fabulous once you finish. I hate the frustration that comes with delay on a project.

    1. I know, I feel like a brat for complaining! It is going to be beautiful once we are finished. It's just the two weeks of nothing happening that is getting me down. We are very lucky to be able to do this!! Gotta keep reminding myself of that ;)

  4. I couldn't agree with you more about summer!!!!!!!!! I dread it coming more every year. Probably because we have such long summers in TX (April through Sept) and even Oct can be hot. I envy areas that only have three months of it. I think you have had great progress in the new home. Can't wait to see how it all comes together.

    1. Okay, I am totally surprised at how many other people feel the same way about summer as I do! Yes, Texas summers are something that unless you've lived it you just can't fully understand. Next week everything is going to happen all at once. I tried to space installations out, but because of the delay in flooring and the long wait on cabinet production it seems that everything is going in at the same time. Be sure to follow on Instagram for updates :)

  5. My favorite seasons in order are Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer comes in dead last. It's not so much the heat but the Arkansas humidity that does me in! Love your blog!
