TGIF...

Here is the breakdown of what we accomplished in the first week of owning our town home...

  • kitchen demo down to the studs
  • all floors taken up- need to be scraped and then leveled for installation of wood floors
  • master bathroom gutted and ready for reinstall of tile/shower area
  • entire exterior painted (I highly recommend ALB Painting if you are in the Clear Lake/Houston area
  • atrium area cleared out
  • upstairs two bedrooms painted, just need to go back and paint trim and doors
  • new ac/furnace duct work installed

To do this next week...

  • finish painting upstairs, walls, trim, doors, hallway
  • install new light fixtures upstairs
  • paint and clean kid's bathroom, install new toilet (we are going to keep the vintage bathroom until a later date when we will gut and remodel it)
  • fix all cracks and openings in attic- blow in insulation
  • paint the railing going down the stairs
  • paint the entire downstairs including the laundry room
  • paint the fireplace
  • install new door leading to garage
  • move existing exterior faucet and reroute to the atrium

So what is left to do?

  • rebuild master bathroom and putty/sand weird opening to vanity area
  • have electrician out to check kitchen wires and rewire the breaker box
  • rebuild kitchen
  • tile laundry room
  • fix door frame for new front door (to be installed in two weeks)
  • install alarm system
  • build out desk area in living room
  • remove slider door and replace with double french doors and a door that the dogs can go through to get to the atrium area
  • build shelves in the entry closet to house extra kitchen small appliances
  • install pedestal sink and toilet in the downstairs 1/2 bath
  • install new light fixtures downstairs
  • build out laundry room/install sink
  • put in new water heater
  • landscape atrium and front beds
Whew.  That about does it, but at the rate we are going, and with my dad's help painting we should be move in ready by the first few weeks in July.  This has not been a project for the faint of heart.  Last night we found baby bird skeletons behind the kitchen walls after tearing out the sheetrock.  They must have fallen down the vent opening behind the wall many years ago.  Nothing like an impromptu science lesson for your homeschooler during a remodel!

The best place to follow along is on Instagram.  I try to post as many pictures/updates as I can without looking like I am slacking off on painting ;)
