Kitchen design...

I can't think of a better way to twiddle my thumbs spend my valuable time than to come up with kitchen designs for a kitchen I don't have in a house I don't own.  Right?

But since I am sitting here after teaching all morning, I thought I would take my few moments of "me time" and do just that.

These are my inspiration pictures....via Home Design Board

Light, bright and not a lot on the walls.  We are looking at downsizing considerably, so this next kitchen is going to be tiny tiny- and wall space will need to be clean and clear to visually give a bit more room.  I say this to my husband and he gets that Scooby Doo look.  (think head tilted and quizzical brow)

My material choices are pretty solid:

Soapstone countertops or honed black granite (at least in one area of the kitchen)

Honed Carrara marble on another area of the countertops or island (if the kitchen isn't the size of an island already!)

Nice and very quiet dishwasher

White subway tile with grey grout

White/Dove White Shaker style cabinets with simple brushed nickel pulls & white planked walls...

via decor pad

Vintage Big Chill fridge

Viking or Wolf stove

Interesting light fixtures.  Really leaning toward something in brass...

So there ya go.  My thinking on our new but completely fictional kitchen.

  1. Love the frig and the floors on the first one, a bit of vintage and a bit of modern. Love it!

  2. I'm with you on the soapstone and the marble. As for that dishwasher, I'd recommend Sear's Kenmore top of the line Elite. We bought one in our last house and loved it so much. Even the husband. When we bought our current house, Consumer Reports recommended Kitchen Aid's top of the line dishwasher, so that's what we bought. Yuck! Doesn't do a good job washing dishes, is noisy, and I've gotten to know the repairman on a first name basis. I have no reason to recommend Sear's Kenmore Elite, I promise. Just loved it. My next house will have all Kenmore Elite brand appliances. I have told all 3 daughters to buy them too, and they have.

    I'm already dreaming about the
next kitchen in The Downsize, so
thanks for all the eye candy!!
