We are three weeks away from closing on our current home, moving out and closing on the town house.
Three weeks.
My day-planner squares are not big enough to accommodate all the things I have to do each day!
I do want to share some exciting news our daughter received last week- Anne has been accepted into the cosmetology program at school. She is over the moon excited since this is what she has wanted to do since she was a little kid. I am so proud of how responsible she is, and how she just jumps in and goes for what she wants out of life.
Yesterday Travis and I went shopping for the flooring for the town house. We love all wood floors and have had them in our last two homes. With me having asthma it has been a life saver. I cannot handle carpet and dust- so wood floors were our choice for the next home. The place we are shopping at is not a big box DIY store- so they carried some high dollar wood flooring choices...
In the end we ended up going with this choice:
You want to know the craziest thing about it? It's not wood. It's laminate. Yep, laminate floors have come a long way! I love the rusticness of it along with the low price point. It's perfect and just what this house is going to need to lighten it up. Plus, it's great with having kids and especially two little doxies and very sharp nails whose names shall remain unspoken...
We also shopped for a new front door. We had our traditional "glass or no glass" discussion, with Travis voting for privacy, and me winning out on "LIGHT"...
The door will be stained in a dark walnut with a simple handle. I am going for clean lines and simple design. This town house will reflect that in our new lifestyle. Low maintenance and no fuss!
Friday we are meeting with a kitchen designer to choose our cabinets and countertops. I have designs sketched out, very European in it's simplicity and no upper cabinets. I want this kitchen to be super efficient and uncluttered since it is a 12 x 9 space.
Here is what the kitchen looks like now...
We are gutting the entire space. Think white cabinets, farmhouse sink, marble countertops, subway tile, and open shelving. I know it's hard for some to see past the 1970's kitchen, but I can see it! It's going to be tiny, but lovely.
Hope y'all are having a great week and enjoying the warmer temps. So nice to finally see spring, although here in Texas we seem to go from a few days of spring to scorching heat : (

This particular brand is 18 dollars a sq. ft. It would have cost 30,000 to do our home!! Aptly named "Baroque" since it would have left us "broke" ;) |

The new fridge is much smaller so that it doesn't take up half the room! |

What flooring store? They flooring options look wonderful and we are wanting to redo our flooring in our master. Love what you picked!
ReplyDeletePro-Source. You have to use a contractor that is registered with them. Fabulous selection!
DeleteCongratualtions to Anne! Great news!
ReplyDeleteLove your flooring choice! So pretty!
Love the flooring you picked out. The kitchen will be gorgeous! How nice to be getting a farmhouse sink and marble countertops. I can't wait to see the photos.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be fabulous. Looking forward to following along with your remodel.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to see your kitchen come to life. I have a 10 by 13 kitchen minus a 3 by 5 bump out for steps, two windows and two doors. Then there are only two upper cabinets and one lower. The stove is jammed up against the fridge. I've tolerated it for 40 years and HAVE TO DO SOMETHING. There, calm down...
ReplyDeleteI can feel your "I'm so done!" I will post pics and how to along with design choices as we go!
DeleteLike the flooring very much and I think the white kitchen will look bigger than the dark cabinets. Can hardly wait to see all the pretty changes you are making.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Congratulation on your daughter being accepted into the school she wanted. You go girl!

Congratulations to your daughter being accepted into the cosmetology program. She is beautiful. Love her eyes.
ReplyDeleteI really like the flooring. I wish we had choices like that when we built our house. Our little cockapoo Maxwell has done a number on our hardwood floors. The open shelving in your kitchen is a great idea. It will make the space seem bigger. I can't wait to see the kitchen when it is done.
Can you give any specifics on the flooring? We desperately need to redo ours and what you've chosen looks absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of all the info and will post it tomorrow!
DeleteOkay, here is the info for the flooring we chose: It is Reclaime 1/2 x 7- 1/2 QS in the Maltedtawn
DeleteThat's all that is on the page I was given from ProSource. When I get some more information I will post it :)
Fantastic, Patricia.....
ReplyDeleteeverything! I'm living my
future in your now, and
it's fun to see all of the
steps : )

Aw, that is just too sweet!
DeleteCan't wait to see it all! I'm sure it will be great!
ReplyDeleteWe did laminate flooring in our finished basement, and it has stood up so well to the 200 lbs of dog on top of it. It's also a dream to clean. I love your choice, too! You have such amazing taste.
ReplyDeleteBittersweet days ahead, indeed. The best one you can get out of this is perspective. Not only in terms of vantage, but in how we're gonna start sorting out and sorting through the things we've owned, and the things we're going to have to take with us. Whether it's a heirloom or memories, both is essential and inherent in the process and rigors of moving out, and setting up shop somewhere else. And the idea is to sort them out well.
