Brain dump...

 I am dreaming/planning/thinking/scheming...

Travis and I are throwing around the idea of doing a little clock building/making.  We love the Mora clocks, but upon pricing them we decided to build our own version.

This quote is resonating with me more and more.  When the kids were little I felt like I was in survival mode, just trying to get through the days.  Living the length of it, but not the width of it.  I'm changing that- or at least I am attempting to.  I want to squeeze all of the goodness out of each day, no matter how small it may be.

I am so ready for The Walking Dead to return.  I miss our Dead & Dinners, and even though Sunday dinner has become a tradition even when the show is off, I still feel like something is missing after dessert...

I am still painting furniture for clients.  I've slowed it down to one project every two weeks- with homeschooling I just don't have the time that I used to.  I am totally okay with that- I know what I am doing with Hunter is far more important and I love how close we have become.  I also feel that when I slow myself down and just focus on one project I am happier with the results and feel renewed instead of stressed.  I guess I am just a slow paced kinda gal.

When I set out on this creative endeavor I only dreamed of some of the amazing things that could happen along the way.  2014 is promising to serve up some of those amazing things.  I can't share too much yet, but I am constantly blown away by the opportunities that are presented to me.  All because I decided to choose happiness in my work.

I plan on spending a lot more time working in my garden this spring.  I love puttering around, trimming things, making it look pretty.  Gardening is like meditation to me- it feeds the soul.

Travis is still in training for his new unit at work.  He is qualified for job one of three, so he is back to working 12 hour shifts and even overtime- so he is not home much these days.  I miss him like crazy, but I am so proud of how hard he works for his family.  If there ever was a picture of family man- it is Travis.  Some of the guys like to stop for a drink after work, but my husband doesn't even like to stop and gas his truck.  He just wants to get home to his family.  I love that he not only feels that way, but makes it a point to tell me.

I am having surgery in April.  It's a major surgery, but one that will relieve the pain I deal with on a daily basis.   I will have three weeks of down time- books, movies, catching up on blogs.  I am kind of looking forward to it- forced relaxation.  At least that is how I am going to look at it!

And finally, I wanted to share this quote.  I love the message and it's one that I try to follow as a basis for anything we do here at the cottage.

Hope y'all are having a lovely Sunday- thanks for reading :)

  1. I like how you balance your time. You have your priorities right. Good luck with the surgery. I always line up magazines and projects that I can do while resting. I hope the surgery takes the pain away.
