Decorating burr...

This week Travis resumed work on the library.   This project has become the decorating burr in our saddle.  It.  Just.  Won't.  Be.  Done.  Already!   We started back in May of last year...

The room is tiny- originally supposed to be a formal dining room, but we closed in that wall on the right and made it a library.  I had two bookshelves that Travis had made for the last house that I repurposed for this room, but honestly with those tall ceilings it just wasn't working and we were not utilizing all the space.

So we came up with a plan that includes built in's that wrap around the room.  Travis took a week off (ha! we are such optimists!) and we began.  Yeah, that week didn't get us very far.   Then overtime happened at work, our shower was declared a black mold zone and had to be ripped out- and this little redo went on the back burner.  Way in the back.

Until now.  Travis' is in training for his new position at work, so hours are such that he has a few free hours in the afternoon to work on this little project again.

window seats with built in storage...

blue/gray ceiling...

built in desk with file cabinets...

sketches that we never really follow...

corbel accents for the desk...

LARGE Ballard Design lantern...
computer printer  cabinet to the left of the desk...

100+ year sewing table that will sit in the middle of the room as a library table...

This week Travis finished the bookcases that will flank the window seat and is working on the large shelf that will tie the two very large bookcases over the file cabinet and printer cabinets.  It's coming along- slowly but surely!

  1. That's going to be amazing when it's done. It is a big project - no wonder it's taking awhile. We have a space that will be a library eventually too. Can't wait!

    1. Yeah, we really underestimated the time it would take. I should say "I" underestimated, Travis KNOWS how long this stuff takes to build ;)
