Fav Round-Top find...

I went to Round Top Antique Fair with a few items in mind to find.  What I didn't expect was this amazing butcher's scale to be offered up to me for only $100...

It's huge- measuring almost four feet from the bottom, but I love it.  I decided to move my stove necessities to the scale top and actually like having them here better than right next to the stove.  My cabinets flanking the stove are very tall, but don't allow for a lot of room below, so this works better.

Just goes to show that when treasure hunting you never know what will fall in your lap ;)

  1. So, it looks like in that big kitchen you have absolutely no open working counterspace at all. Sweet.

    1. Actually, I now have more working space. I cleared off all around the stove, and there is still half of the center island to work on. I'm okay with a bit of space sacrifice- the scale is beautiful :)

  6. so I have to giggle because I brought home a scale a couple years ago and my husband thought it was a toilet bowl....it will forever be a chuckle in our home! I love how you decorated around yours...I could learn a thing or two from you! xoxo, tracie

  7. Tricia,
I came upon your blog by way of Facebook, and your tag about your Sara's Best Buddy (Sarah), who is a mutual friend of ours...small little world. I then realized that your parents have gone to the church I grew up in for quite some time, and connected where I recognized your face from...again, an even smaller world!!
All that to say, I love, LOVE your cottage and the blog and have spent several hours over the last few days pouring through your posts - you, ma'am, are very talented, and your gifts are shining through your writing, photography and the sharing of your cottage and it's little life!
I adore this scale; I've now commenced to stalking antique/vintage scales online in hopes of finding one similar to yours since Round Top is a long 5 more months away (sigh..). However, in looking, I can't find any online that even look remotely like yours and was wondering if you might share with us the brand of this piece so that my online stalkery might become a little more finely tuned? :)
Thanks again for writing - I'm excited to follow a new blog!!
