Steampunk kitchens...

Have y'all heard of Steampunk?  I have, but only because I have an almost 16 year old daughter who is pretty heavy into the punk scene...

I absolutely hate it when she does this with her eyes...

Steampunk style is defined as:

Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan "What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner." It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes.

Here are some variations on Steampunk in the kitchen...

Although I couldn't see quite this extreme style in my own home, I was drawn to this image:

If you want to change your style of dressing, or maybe just dabble in some Steampunk for Halloween- there is a Pinterest page for all things homemade Steampunk.  Oh, Pinterest....

  1. I love the style when it's just a little bit added to decorating, but too much can make it, well...too much.

  3. I think I 'kinda' like it - just a very little bitty touch of it! like my glass bowl of old lightbulbs and springs - that has been labeled a little bit steampunk. That last photo of a kitchen I could live with though I don't think I'd choose all that stuff if I were designing.

  4. Oh yes....I've been fascinated with steampunk for quite some time. But that's about as far as it goes. Don't think I would care for a steampunk kitchen. It would be kinda fun to dress up for Halloween though. Of COURSE there's an entire board on Pinterest. What can't you find there! :) smiles! And have a great week!

  5. Punk and Steampunk are two different things - but I like the kitchens. Won't fit my house, but interesting.

  6. Interesting indeed. I kinda like the look but I wouldn't be able to bring myself to decorate like that. ;o)

  7. I love Steam punk in the kitchen and on men, not crazy about it on women. Very fun post!
