Dresser makeover....before & after!

While we were in Gruene I purchased a dresser from this little shop:

The top was pretty badly damaged by water at some point.  So I sanded and scraped until I could get to  some wood that was worth staining.

I love the curve of the dresser and I am a sucker for it's curvy legs and casters!

This old girl needed some work, and more than I originally thought!  Thankfully Travis was around to lend his handy skills to fixing her up.  The drawers needed some tweaking, and the top was in pretty bad shape, but I liked the look once she was all sanded down.

Our next project is to finish painting our interior doors in ASCP Graphite.  It's a project we started, but never got around to finishing.   The doors take about three coats, and then the waxing and buffing- long story short it's a lot of work!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week  ; o )

  2. Karianne- I love how these pieces never turn out quite like you think they will. The stain on the top has done something a little different- probably because of the wood being water damaged. Going to see how the poly dries....will post pics soon : o )

  4. Hi there! Saw your link on Miss Mustard Seed's site.. noticed that it said Gruene, and not many people now where that is if you don't live nearby, so my question is... where do you live? I live in Spring Branch/Bulverde area. :) Anyways, LOVE how this turned out and LOVE, LOVE your Gruene sign!!

  5. Claire- We live in League City, about 1/2 way between H town and Galveston. I've been going to Gruene since I was in college at St.Mary's in SA. Love, love, love that town : o ) We hope to retire there one day. Melaine of My Sweet Savannah made the Gruene Hall sign for me. Did you know you can get Gruene postage stamps? I got them for our cards this year.
