Mornin' Sunshine!

I am a morning person- always have been, probably always will be. Two of my four children are not morning people. Thankfully, my husband is. Our day begins at 4:30 am, and even though it's summer and I am off, I still find myself up and wandering around the house no later than 5:30 every morning. I hear my husband get up, he kisses me good-bye, and he is out the door. Then I lie there and tell myself that I am going to go back to sleep.

Finally, a bit after 5:00 I admit that I was fooling myself and I get up.

Though I am a morning person, I am not a breakfast person. The idea of eating first thing in the morning is something I find repulsive. Coffee, however, is spot on.
Two of my four children are also not breakfast people. The other two would eat breakfast all day if you let them. IHOP is their Nirvana.

So how about you? Morning person? Breakfast person? How do you roll in the mornings?

  1. I'm a morning person, but not an early eater either. We get up at 4am during the week, so 5 or 5:30 is sleeping in for us. By the time I leave for work between 6 and 6:30 I've usually done a load or two of laundry, put the last cleaning touches on the kitchen, fed and watered the chickens and the dog and maybe done some straightening up elsewhere. I don't eat or have coffee until after I get to work, which is usually about 7 or 7:30. Weekends - our favorite thing to do is go out for breakfast. I have been known to go back to bed for an hour or so while DH goes fishing, but I usually feel guilty if I do.

  2. Total morning person, but only if I have nowhere to go. If I have to go to work, you can't drag me out of bed! On a weekend, I am up with the birds. I love breakfast, but not a starchy breakfast. I am a protein girl. I feel like cereal is a huge waste because an hour later you are just hungry. Give me an egg and I'll be good to go until lunch. Oh, I have to have coffee as well.

  3. I am totally NOT a morning person. I get up when I need to get up to get where I'm going and get out of bed pretty quick. I'm the kind of guy that though I'm awake, I don't want anyone to bother me for about 2 hours after I get up.

However, I LOOOOOVE breakfast! Eggs and sausage really hit the spot! I'm also a big believer in Sunday brunch. Yum! I don't dig breakfast all day long but fill me up first thing baby!

  4. Night owl here, definitely hate the whole process of waking up, although once I'm awake, I do love mornings, by myself with a cup of coffee. Big breakfast later.

Even though I hate mornings, I also hate sleeping late because I feel like I've wasted the day, if that makes sense.

  7. Hi there...just popped in from another blog and am enjoying looking through yours. I'm a Texan too!
As I get older I'm more of a morning person but NOT 5:00 a.m....I guess it's because I go to bed a lot earlier now...rather than as the sun was coming up in my younger days.
I don't eat breakfast as soon as I get up either....YUCK...Coffee yes! I have to be up and about a little bit before I'm interested in eating!

  10. Wow. That is an interesting question. I am up easily whenever. Never in bed before midnight and up at 4 or 6 whatever time Bubba has to get up. Then after he leaves I go lay back down and read till I maybe fall back asleep. If not then I am up cleaning, reading, or on the computer. Never eat before 11 am.
