Fluffing up the bedroom...

With all of the work that we have going on around the house I felt that it was time to put some finishing touches on the master bedroom. I liked my lamps but had two different mismatched shades, so I bought two white drum shades from Lamps Plus at $19.99 a piece. Then I added the rug to anchor the bed, a steal at Home Depot for $90. I love the sisal rugs, so this one with it's dark brown and light brown colours seemed perfect for the room. Looking at the pictures it does seem a bit small...but it will do for now. The black chair by my side of the bed and the rocker are both Nichols & Stone. The rocker belonged to my Grandpa Gross. The chair was a Craigslist find. The family portrait was taken just a few months after our terrible car accident. It means the world to me to have that picture of my entire family intact.

Next project to complete will be Anne's room which we estimate will take another couple of weekends. Also up on the agenda is an exterior colour re-do...

Now off to sleep am I. (That sounded so Yoda!)

  1. Now your bedroom looks like a 4 star hotel. I hope nobody runs up and and the hallway and keeps you awake!

    Beautiful job!!

  2. Lynn- I have my kids trained like pet seals, lol! They learned a long time ago that waking up mommy is a recipe for waking up Monster Momma.

Thanks for the compliments. I think the room looks more pulled together now.

  6. Daneille- The large one was my Grandfathers. He loved that rocker : ) The smaller one is mine, and even has a spot where the paint is missing when I tried to take my finger nail polish off on it back when I was in high school. Ahhh memories!

  12. Did you just call something in the bedroom "a bit small"?

    *immature snickering*

I forget, is there a bra holder in this bedroom? (You know, a ceiling fan.)

It's lovely, your bedroom. You know that, everyone's told you so. I just wanted to make you laugh.

  14. First of all, your bedroom is absolutely perfect, very clean and sleek and glamorous!

Second of all, I have that rocking chair!!! That is crazy, I inherited it from my parents! I
have no idea where it originated. Think its worth some money? :)

  15. Erin- You are the second person to tell me that you have that chair! Look on the bottom and check for the nichols & stone name and logo. They are also known as "Boston Rockers". Yes, they are worth a bit...

  16. I have been "stalking" your blog for a few days now. I found it by way of Just a Girl. Can I just say, your kitchen is AMAZING! I have looked at those pics every day since Just a Girl posted about you. Fantastic space! Anyway, I saw your bedroom, which I love as well and yelled at my husband, "there is my monogram!" I saw that monogram that you have above your bed on Pottery Barn website for 75 bucks and could afford it and have been looking for it every since. So, saying all that to say, can you tell me where you got yours and what the dimensions of it are?
You have a fabulous looking home and family. Thanks for sharing.
