Travis and I have a favourite Texas vacation spot that we try to get to at least once a year. Gruene, Texas is located right next to New Braunfels (not too far from San Antonio). It's a small river town and we are smitten with it!
*warning- picture overload!
There are many great bed & breakfasts in the area. We have tried a different one each time we go. This last visit we stayed here:
The breakfasts were DIVINE! I am not a breakfast person, but I found myself going back for seconds each morning : o )
A friend just told me about Gruene a couple of weeks ago and it is on my mental list of places to visit in Texas. I was so excited to see your photos because I really didn't know much about it. It looks like a really beautiful place! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLisa- It is our fav! Be sure to eat at the Gristmill when you are there : o )
ReplyDeleteWater and green trees with ropes - did you do anything besides take pictures?
ReplyDeleteJoe- Believe it or not, the water was too cold to go in! River water stays chilly ; o )
ReplyDeleteGruene has ALWAYS been a fave of ours, too. My SIL lives in NB, so going through Gruene is always on our list of "can't go without" when we drive that direction. I've shopped there many times and eaten at some of the fine restaurants, too. It just has a totally different 'feel' to it than most Texas tourist hot-spots. Glad you got to enjoy your special time with Travis in one of our little-known out-of-the-way tourist towns. Boerne is another fave of mine. Though it's larger, the shops are still fun and the food divine! Though, in all honesty, would prefer that we insiders don't tell too many outsiders about these fun places (grin).
ReplyDeleteLOVE!! This is my favorite place to be... next to Boerne and Fredericksburg! We had our family pictures done here two years ago in the fall. Gristmill is one of my favorite places to eat!!
ReplyDeleteHow come I have never heard of this place before? It seems so full of charm...I will be adding this place to my must see list. I live in the Dallas area, and unfortunately, it just does not feel like Texas to me, would love to one day live somewhere like this place.
ReplyDeleteKristel- Dallas is so different from the rest of Texas! A little too polished and crowded for me. Gruene is the best kept secret-you would love it there : o )
ReplyDeleteWe love Gruene too. My crazy 83 year old aunt just built a house there last year...on the river!! She ended up being homesick for her hometown, Lockhart. She sold her house and moved on to her next project.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I love to spend time there. The flowers are amazing!
