My dad is not one to part with things, so walking into his study is a bit like walking into one of those curiosity shops you see in old movies. There's everything from 17th century medical books, a skull, a brick from Yankee stadium, framed bugs from around the world, coins from every country, and who knows what else. I love that room. I love that it looks like the way my dad thinks. Broad, varied, and always interesting. Every time I go over there he makes it a point to call me in and show me something new. He gets so excited over new scientific discoveries or interesting people in history. My dad and I share a love of old things.
Today my dad gave me this:
It's an old transistor radio from the 30's. It's leather and the top opens up to reveal a map, and y'all know how I feel about those : o )
