More painted chalk furniture...

Yesterday I decided to make a few changes to a couple of pieces of furniture.  The dresser in Hunter's room belonged to my dad as a kid and started out maple.  I had painted it black years ago and have always loved it.  This house is a bit different with its super dark wood floors, so I am gradually lightening up the look of our furniture and this piece was begging for a makeover.

So out came the chalk paint...

and after.  I used two coats of Paris Gray with one coat of clear wax.  Distressed using a light grit sand paper.  I am liking the lighter look much better in here : o )
Then it was on to Anne's room.  She has had this vanity for a couple of years now and complained about a lack of colour in her room...

I love how the duck's egg blue peeks through...

and after.  I used Duck Egg Blue as an undercoat, then topped it off with Paris Gray and one coat of wax.  Lightly distressed and buffed.

My plan for today was to take it easy, but as I am sitting here I am looking at my vintage settee sofa and thinking "those legs could use some work..."

Here I go again!

  3. I'd tell you to step away from the paintbrush young lady, buy you obviously are having too much fun. Besides, it does look good.
