Sew perfect & a giveaway...

A while back I contacted my friend, Jill of Sew A Fine Seam, to see if she could come up with a pouf of sorts for our son's room.  His room is one of my favourites as far as functionality and style, so I wanted something that would hold up to the wear and tear of a boy but still look good.

Jill, being the sewing master that she is, dove in and produced one of the most beautiful pieces that fit Hunter's room to a "t".  It isn't just a pouf, it's a little piece of sewing art.

This is the top of the piece that greeted me when I first opened the box.  I may have swooned a bit...

That Jill included my boy's initials makes my heart happy...

Jill used antique European grain sacks and filled the pouf with bean bag fill.

This piece was the perfect addition to Hunter's room, and with an upcoming (BIG) photo shoot I am over the moon excited to have it featured :)

If you want to pop over to Jill's shop you can see all of the beautiful pieces she creates, or have her design a custom piece for you.

The Giveaway...

Jill also included a little something extra for me to give away to one of my lucky readers!  This is a lovely little scarf and one of her adorable key fobs!

Here is what you need to do to enter:

1.  Like my Facebook page: Little Cottage Designs

2.  Like Jill's Facebook page: Sew a Fine Seam

3.  Leave me a comment and tell me your funniest sewing story.  Maybe you sewed your finger to a shirt, like my sweet hubby did in high school home economics, or sewed the hem of your skirt to the chair you were sitting on.  Hypothetically, of course...

Sara will pick a winner on Sunday Feb. 23rd- Good Luck!

Letter to Anne while at camp...

This just in....

As of yesterday around noon all socks had been located, washed and put away in their correct spot.  However, today's discovery under the book case led to the rescue of more socks.  Those socks were then washed and put away.  Reports from the reunion are positive and even a bit tearful.

All clothes are washed and hanging up in the closet.  They look at bit confused, but they seem happy in their new home.

Bed has been cleaned, washed, made and a new blanket (sweater material!) has been put on it.  The bed also looks a bit surprised by the turn of events, but is happy and loving it's fresh downy smell.

The vanity got a cleaning off with some very strong bleach type product.  Mirrors cleaned as well.  They didn't realize how clear the world looked.  This saved them the trouble of finding glasses to wear...

Shoes have been reunited with their mates.  All couples report a high level of satisfaction in their new quarters.

Q-tips have been disposed of if used and put away if not used.  Random bits of chopped hair have been disposed of as well.  The room was a bit worried at one point because there were rumors of building another anne out of bits and pieces left laying about...

All dust bunnies have been cleared out.  The cat in the picture seems very pleased with this new arrangement.

That is all from now.  Be warned that when you reenter the room it may smell odd to you.  It is called "clean"....try living with it for a bit- it will grow on you.

Love,

Mom

ps- there is food in the kitchen and in the refrigerator, so no need to store food under the bed...

Hot pink with a side of glam...

Yesterday was busy around here, but we did manage to get the last bit done on the console and move it into Sara's room.

Here it is- hot pink & all...

The room is not very big, so photographing it head on was impossible!  I tried to take as many pics from different angles.  I know it 's cluttered, but Sara has a 'thing' for her things :)  I tried to organize as many of her smalls as I could.  Mardi Gras beads, rubber balls, pencils, greeting cards, books, more books, perfume, and pictures- all hold a special place in her heart.  The ukelele will be finding a spot on the wall next to her graduation picture.  It was a birthday gift from her nana and she loves it!

Thanks for reading and know that your comments make my heart sing!
