Seven days.....that is the time it took us to take this:
to this:
We tore out the existing upper cabinets....
Built and installed two new, deeper cabinets to flank the stove....
Tied that in with some open shelving in the corner....
Which gave us more of a cohesive look to the kitchen, without being all open shelving or all closed shelving....
This is the view from the far corner of the kitchen...windows are behind me in this shot...
Side view....
We opted for a new faucet with a more industrial look....
This is the eat-in area of the kitchen. Table is an old French antique and chairs are from World Market.
Now the kitchen ties in a bit better with our laundry room design....
I collect Emma Bridgewater pottery : o ) A nod to my English roots...
This is the view of the kitchen looking in from the living room....
Paint colours: Annie Sloan chalk paint: Country Grey & Pure White
Appliances: GE Cafe
Cabinet pulls: Martha Stewart Home Depot
Light Fixtures: Pottery Barn
Faucet: Home Depot

WOW!! I was featured!!
looks fantastic! how was the sanding....did dust cover your hold house??
ReplyDeletewhat a difference!!
Thank you! Most of the sanding was done out in the garage...still a trail of dust went from the back door to the kitchen! Still cleaning up a bit around the construction site : o )
ReplyDeleteJust Splendid. Love the open cabinets. I do not have open cabinets but that is my goal....one day.

ReplyDeleteCathy- Thank you! I am linked up to Sunday's Best : o )
ReplyDeleteJoe- OCD at work ; o )
Trish- Thanks, we really wanted to give it some interest, not just the same ol builder grade look ; o )
Becky- Thank you!! With four kids I spend way too much time in the kitchen. I need happy & bright, lol!
WOW! Just love it! I am seriously considering painting my kitchen cabinets with ASCP. My hesitation was I wanted it to look clean and crisp, not aged. After seeing your kitchen, it looks like you achieved that. Any tips you learned on how to?
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Leanne@TheBurlapCottage
Leanne- I painted them with two coats, then applied a clear top wax. They are not distressed (but could be ; o ) ASCP is a very forgiving paint, so I used a brush (not a roller) and just went with it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love your kitchen. Visiting from Make it Pretty Monday :) I'm your newest GFC follower! Greetings from Australia♥ ~Pernilla

ReplyDeleteWhat a great job. Love everything that you did. Congratulations on your new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTricia,
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen, but cannot tell from photos where you used the country grey versus the pure white Annie Sloan paint colors. Asking b/c I started painting my cabinets with the country grey and did not like b/c it "blended in" with my SS appliances Found your blog through Mod Vintage Life and so glad I did!
Thanks,
Gina (in Texas)
Kate- Thank you : o )
ReplyDeleteNita- Thanks, love the pics of the weenies on your site! We have one too : o)
Gina- The lower cabinets are in the Country grey. I don't see much of a blend with them...but could be because of the material/colour they were painted over?
I know that this paint looks different depending on the time of day/light/camera etc... It does have a bit of a greenish hue to it in my home. Glad you stopped by! I'd love to see your cabinets as well.
Tickled pink you joined in on the fun. Your kitchen is no less beautiful than the first time I saw it. Really a beautiful and incredible transformation! So glad you shared your creative inspiration with Sunday's Best - you helped create a successful party!

My hubby, Ethan will be in touch soon about your gift card and voting will begin in the next week or two to select for grand prize winner! :) Good Luck and thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI found you on Burlap and Denim also! Your kitchen is fantastic! I'm getting so much inspiration from all of the changes that you have made. How has the Annie Sloan paint held up so far? I'm wanting to repaint my kitchen cabinets soon and the only thing (other than time) that is holding me back is deciding on what type of paint to go with. I'm so glad I found your blog. I love your style! And we happen to share the same name with the correct way to spell it! Lol!
ReplyDeleteTricia
Tricia- Annie Sloan has held up very well. I have gone back and done a few touch ups here and there (very few) and just dabbed a bit more clear wax on them. I love the chalky matte look they have and that they change according to the light that strikes them. So glad you found me!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to respond to your comment that you left me on Shabby Sweet Tea but it keeps bouncing back. So here I am!
ReplyDeleteI agree, ASCP works great in the kitchen! Best choice I made. I love how you created open air shelving. Very impressive! We both started with such blah cabinets...
Thanks again!
