Devine Color...

A while back I was contacted by Devine Color, a paint company, asking if I would be interested in trying out some of their paint...

After I happy danced my way around the room and explained to the doxies that mommy was getting to try out some new paint...I replied to their email with an enthusiastic  "YES!"

First they sent me their discovery color cards.  WOW!  These are not your ordinary color cards- these are different...

The window in the middle of the discovery cards allows you to really see what colors pop out at you when you look around your home at the things you love.  I simply carried the card around until I found the colors that appealed to me by way of things already owned.  It makes a world of difference using these rather than the traditional set up of fan deck of colors.

And the colors....well, these are not your ordinary colors, these are richer, creamier, brighter and just all around perfect.  Turns out that the founder of Devine Color,  Gretchen Schauffler, is from my home island of Puerto Rico.   No wonder I was so attracted to these lovely colors!  (She totally had me at the finger painting...I do that on my furniture pieces too!)

Since I knew I was going to be doing a furniture piece for our son's new place I walked around and held the color cards up to his things...

Here is his new Ikea bedroom:

And here is the color I chose:  Devine Macaw

So I emailed them back...
and they sent me a gallon of Devine Macaw...

Because they are nice like that...they even included a little note card!

I did add a bit of chalk paint powder additive to give it more of a chalk paint feel since I was going to be painting a piece of furniture to distress & wax.

Then I added the paint...

Here is the piece before:

Here is the piece after two coats of Devine Color paint in Macaw, clear wax and a bit of distressing:

This paint goes on super smooth- it is creamy, like buttah creamy and stays true to it's intended color, something that some paints do not do- especially after waxing it!

And here she is after adding a bit of jewelry...

Thank you so much to the folks at Devine Color for asking me to try their paint out.  I love how this piece turned out and most importantly my son loves it too!

  1. I love their paints....my old house had three rooms painted in 'Reflection'. Sadly, I can't get it locally anymore. I still carry the paint card around with me hoping to find another similar shade from another maker....tried to have it colormatched a few times, but it never was right. I remember thinking the first time I used it that it was like painting with yogurt :)

  2. The colors look beautiful! I love how the dresser turned out. Of course I love every piece that you paint! You must have crazy patience. I really don't enjoy painting furniture - it feels so tedious to me! I just want the finished piece. :)
