Sneak peek into Anne's beach girl room...

So the paint is barely dry on the laundry room and I have already started Anne's room. While Travis was measuring, sawing, and straddling a ladder to get the beadboard on the ceiling I was sipping sweet tea and scheming. I tend to do that.

Layla of The Lettered Cottage put together a plan for Anne's room. We may have deviated just a bit...but overall it was her inspiration for the room that led us. Above are just a few pictures of what will be in the room. The ceiling has been painted, and the chandy is up. Next is the boards on the window wall, seahorse shutters, and a picture rail around the room for her "things". Travis will build her a new platform bed and I have something special planned to use as a dresser.

I told Anne that this was the look that would see her through high school and off to college.

Oh who am I kidding? We both know I'm lying like a rug.

  1. Very nice.

Of course if the sweet tea disappears, you'll know who to blame. Probably the guy measuring, sawing and straddling things. :P

  2. Jammie J- LOL! Poor guy, he is getting this next weekend off : )

  3. Heh, heh, you said stradling.

I suspect that once you finish this room, you'll leave it alone for about 6 months, one year tops. Until the next time you get stressed out about something. Then I'm sure you'll change the color scheme or something. Right?

  4. Seriously, when can I move in? I'll live in the laundry room and I'll be very quiet.

Option #2 - come over to my house and help me redecorate!

  6. Do you loan Travis out? He does awesome work! Love the beaded board in the laundry room and the great begining of this precious bedroom!
Any tips on making the bead board ceiling an easier process? I'm wanting to put it up in my guest bathroom and maybe my guest bedroom, and my kitchen, well, you get the picture!

BTW-found you via Layla's blog! Love her!

  7. Sydwynd- You've known me that long to know me so well, huh? LOL!

Lynn- There are so many people in this house that you could easily move in and I wouldn't notice for quite a while! I love the laundry room too- right now it's my favourite room in the house- something I never thought I would be saying! Send me pics of your house to tandtgoins@msn.com and I'll see what I can do : )

Jeanneoli- I know...it's taken us 4 years to get to this point. Sadly, we get to the finished product about the same time we decide to move.

Kathy- I would love to hire him out, but everytime I mention it he just looks at me like I'm crazy. Poor guy, he works all day at the plant out in 100 degree weather, then comes home to me saying "Hey, I was thinking...". He talks about maybe starting up a small business after he retires. As for beadboard tips...I'll have to let Travis field that question. He's the expert! (I will tell you that painting it on the ceiling is NOT easy)

  14. You're supposed to call me when you do that. :)

By the way, this is "Mid-Month Neighbor" stalking your blog. I don't have much to do here at work for the next couple of weeks.

  16. Sounds like Travis & my husband have the same living situation - my DH does masonry work out in the hot sun for 10 hrs a day and then cringes every time I say, "I have an idea!" He knows it means more work for him, but he USUALLY does it with a smile on his face. Like the time I said "I want to put galvanized roofing on the ceiling" in the room I did for my Grandson! He said, "YOU WANT TO DO WHAT!" But he did it anyway and it turned out really cute! It lets me know he really does love me!
I've had more time to go through your blog and man, you ARE CREATIVE!

  17. Kathy- I am laughing...Travis does the same thing to me when I make off the wall suggestions. He's learned to trust me and goes ahead with it. He used to work shift and I really liked it better. He had a week each month off and we would get so much done! Now, it's just weekends, sometimes Saturdays only : (

  18. It looks wonderful - really love the laundry room. Maybe that's because I don't have one? ;)

Question: where did you get the "Sage for Strength" hanging bin? The Youngest's name is Sage, and I think she'd get a kick out of one. :)

  19. Julie- Thanks : ) I got it at Homegoods/Marshalls. Layla bought a set and I loved it so much that I searched for months until I found it. The only one I'm missing is the large box. What a great name for a little girl!

  22. I got those from White Flower Farmhouse : ) There are two, one for each side of the window when we finish trimming it out.
